Grants of up to $7,500 to Reno, Nevada nonprofit arts and cultural organizations, public agencies, and qualified educational institutions to hold one-time events. Applicants must attend a grant workshop prior to applying. Funding is intended for special performances, community festivals, exhibitions, workshops, concerts, and other events.
The events funded by City of Reno Arts & Culture Event Grants may be anywhere within the Reno city limits and must be free and open to the general public. Events should be designed to attract the maximum number of people, as appropriate for the event and site.
Allowable event costs include: personnel, artistic and production fees, space rental, travel, marketing and advertising, other operating expenses.
A competitive application will demonstrate social impact beyond a traditional audience experience as well as a plan to reach diverse and underserved populations.
- Engages participants through a variety of means
- Project times, locations, facilities, and technology are accessible to the public
- Understands the community it serves (geographic, cultural, economic, racial, educational relevance)
- Utilizes partnerships to effectively serve specific communities
- Collects participant feedback and uses the results to improve community-focused programming
- Demonstrates social, educational, cultural and/or economic relevance for the community
- Contributes to vibrant, creative neighborhoods

Funding: Up to $7,500 of eligible event.
Project and Event Grants must take place from July 1, 2019 and June 30, 2020.
Nonprofit organizations or public institutions under chapter 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code or qualified educational institutions may apply.
Locations for eligibility require that the project take place in the City of Reno.
Grants will not be awarded to individuals.
Event Grants may not be used for the following: capital improvements or acquisition of equipment or property, projects that further the aims of religious organizations, fundraising, prizes, projects that involve touring outside of Reno, and scholarships or research stipends.
Anyone applying for a grant must attend a mandatory grant workshop. Grants workshops will be held at McKinley Arts & Culture Center boardroom on the following days:
- Tuesday, November 13th at 10:00 AM
- Thursday, November 15th at 10:30 AM
- Monday, December 10th at 4:00 PM
- Wednesday, January 9th at 9:00 AM

The Fiscal Year 2019/2010 grant applications will open on November 13, 2018.
Grants cannot be submitted or reviewed without attending a workshop.
Applications must be received before 5:00 PM PST on Friday, February 8, 2019.
Applicants may request an appointment with staff to review the application prior to submission during the period of January 28 - February 5, 2019.
A 10% cash match is required.
Grant funds will not be disbursed until final reporting is complete.
