U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM) and National Network of Libraries of Medicine, MidContinental Region (NNLM MCR)

Grants of $1,500 to Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Utah, and Wyoming public libraries for programs that promote education and awareness of health information resources. Examples of eligible projects include healthy cooking classes, health fairs, chronic illness self-management, mind/body programming (e.g. yoga, meditation), and supporting health initiatives such as the All of Use Research Program.
The purpose of this award is to fund public library programming to increase the awareness of and education on health topics incorporating NLM and/or NNLM health information resources (e.g., MedlinePlus, Genetics Home Reference), relevant to their service community, with a particular focus on the public health priorities of their community and programs for underserved populations.
This award meets the Aims of the 2016-2021 cooperative agreement, specifically:
-Aim 3: Implement a process for announcing, reviewing, and making sub-awards to regional Network members to help achieve outreach, education, and technology goals.

Food, promotional items, and furniture are not allowable expenses. Promotional items include, but are not limited to, clothing and commemorative items such as pens, mugs/cups, folders/folios, lanyards, and conference bags that are sometimes provided to visitors, employees, grantees, or conference attendees. No more than 5% of funding can be used to purchase print materials (e.g., such as books, magazines, booklets, brochures).
