Grants of up to $2,000 to Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas libraries and other organizations that provide health information for meetings, conferences, and health fairs. This award enables funding-source member institutions to demonstrate and promote a range of health information, resources, and products.
The mission of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NNLM) is to advance the progress of medicine and improve the public health by providing all U.S. health professionals with equal access to biomedical information and improving the public's access to information to enable them to make informed decisions about their health.
The purpose of the Exhibitor Award is to allow network members to promote and demonstrate NLM products such as MedlinePlus, drug information resources, emergency response tools, public health resources, K-12 resources, and other NLM databases to health professionals, health organizations, emergency responders, consumer groups, and public or school librarians.
Exhibits are a way to promote NLM and NNLM resources, services and access to free, reliable electronic health information to large groups while attending a health fair or regional meeting. Additionally, exhibits enable local librarians to meet with specific clients or target populations in their own area to promote the services and resources of their own institutions.
The Exhibitor Award supports booth and meeting registration fees, travel and other related expenses. SCR staff will provide consultation on applicable NLM resources and educational materials for your target group. If awarded the exhibit booth should be registered and branded as the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NNLM). If needed, a tablecloth and pop up exhibit background are available for check-out from the SCR regional medical library.
Funding may include, but is not limited to, exhibiting at events to reach:
-Health practitioners attending regional, state or local professional meetings
-Providers at Public Health Training Centers, accredited schools of public health, and local, regional, and state public health agencies
-Minority health practitioners
