Grants of up to $2,000 to Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas librarians in member institutions providing health information to support professional development activities. Funding is intended to offer librarians and information specialists the opportunity to expand professional knowledge and experience in the field of data science.
The mission of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NNLM) is to advance the progress of medicine and improve the public health by providing all U.S. health professionals with equal access to biomedical information and improving the public's access to information to enable them to make informed decisions about their health.
Funding will be provided to individuals interested in attending professional seminars, conferences, and other continuing education opportunities in areas of Big Data, Data Reproducibility, Data Management, Data Science, Ontologies, Metadata Standards, Natural Language Processing, Data Visualization, Data Curation and related fields.
This award is intended to cover the costs of professional development courses/conferences such as registration fees and travel expenses (airfare, hotel, per diem, etc.).

Librarians or information specialists who live within the NNLM South Central Region (Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas) and are affiliated with an NNLM SCR Network member institution are eligible to apply.
Network membership is free and open to institutions interested in providing health information.

Indirect costs are not allowed.
Continuous reviews will take place for this award. Applications must be submitted a minimum of 6 weeks in advance of the activity date. Applications will not be accepted after March 18, 2019, 5:00 PM CST.
Funding will be cost reimbursement.
