Grants of up to $7,000 to Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas libraries and other organizations to improve health information delivery to targeted audiences. This award enables qualifying organizations to evaluate target audience needs with regards to health information access and health, or to assess the effectiveness of previous health outreach program activities. This award should enable applicants to plan outcomes based outreach projects.
The mission of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NNLM) is to advance the progress of medicine and improve the public health by providing all U.S. health professionals with equal access to biomedical information and improving the public's access to information to enable them to make informed decisions about their health.
Projects can include but are not limited to:
-Completing a community needs assessment (may be a narrowly defined community with a narrow needs focus such as technology access, health information, and others)
-Undertaking long term evaluation of previously funded project activities such as contacting previous training/ technology distribution sites to assess program outcomes
-Consulting an expert on building an effective assessment tool (survey, focus groups, etc.)
-Acquiring assistance in data design, collection, or analysis
-Other creative ideas are encouraged
Projects may target a specific community or population including but not limited to:
-Refugee health organizations
-Unaffiliated healthcare professionals
-State/local health departments
-Minority or ethnic populations
Funding will cover (these are examples only and are not meant to be all-inclusive): Personnel, equipment, software, Internet service provider fees, supplies, travel and reproduction.

The funding period is Tuesday, May 1, 2018 to Tuesday, April 30, 2019.
Funding opportunities are offered by the NNLM SCR to provide resources to libraries, community based organizations, public health professionals, health educators, faith-based agencies, and other information partners throughout the South Central Region of the United States.
Network members in the NNLM SCR (Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas) are eligible to apply. Network membership is free and open to institutions interested in providing health information.

Food and furniture are not allowed.
IDC is allowable. The institution’s negotiated rate for other sponsored activities should be used. If your institution does not have a negotiated rate a maximum of 10% can be used for IDC.
The deadline to apply is Friday, March 2, 2018, 5:00 PM.
Funding will issued on a cost reimbursement.
