Fellowships of $6,000 to USA and territories students at institutions of higher education for projects to analyze data that is relevant to a wide range of fields. Funding is intended for paid fellowships pairing students with qualifying nonprofits to complete challenging spatial analysis projects. Work will be done in the Philadelphia offices of Azavea during June, July, and August.
Fellows are provided with the stipend and one-on-one mentoring by the Data Analytics team with support from other Azavea teams during the 12-week fellowship. Each fellow works with two nonprofit organizations as part of the Summer of Maps team. Nonprofit organizations who submit winning project ideas will work closely with a fellow and Azavea throughout the summer and receive a completed analysis project, at no cost to the organization. Projects answer challenging data and spatial analysis questions and result in a series of data, maps, and visualizations.

Fellows are provided a $6,000 stipend and one-on-one mentoring. Fellows will be paid $2,000 each month. This is contingent upon working a 40 hour work week and making progress on the two selected projects. If fellows are unable to complete the fellowship, they will forfeit a prorated portion of the stipend.
