Grants to New Hampshire IHEs to partner with local companies and foster economic development. A letter of intent is required prior to applying. Funding is intended to support collaborative research and innovation leading to new product or processes development. The primary outcome of the NHIRC is to attract, grow, and retain companies in the state. Applications are particularly encouraged in the following areas: Biomedical/Biotechnology (excluding clinical trials), Engineering, Information Technology, Life Science, Materials Science, and Manufacturing.

$20,000 - $125,000 per grant. Projects may be fully or partially funded.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

New Hampshire academic institutions and companies are eligible to apply.

Companies that could not individually purchase specialized equipment could benefit from partnerships with universities. Companies seeking research support leading to commercial ventures or testing a theory before investing can benefit from participation.

Universities seeking to provide field experience for students or additional funding for research can benefit.

The academic partner will serve as the principal investigator (PI). Preference will be given to collaborative projects with NH universities and colleges. Project funds are distributed to the principal investigators. Upon award approval, the academic institution will enter into a Cooperative Agreement with the company for the project. Agreement must be executed between the company and the academic institution within 30 days of the award. Failure to do so could result in the cancellation or reallocation of NHIRC funds to other projects.

There is a 1:1 match requirement. For each dollar the NHIRC awards, the company must match one dollar in company cash or in-kind.

Please note that financing is contingent upon funding by the New Hampshire state government and is subject to change at any time without prior notice.
