Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) - Highway Safety Office
Grants of up to $4,950 to Colorado law enforcement agencies to upgrade existing or purchase new speed-enforcement equipment. Funds are intended for reimbursement of purchases of specific speed equipment items and for speed enforcement efforts to be conducted within a short period of time (up to 90 days).
CDOT will require agencies selected to focus on at least one nighttime speed enforcement element, which must be conducted between the hours of 2100-0300. The overtime must be conducted by at least two officers for a minimum of 4 hours.
Application should include:
- A description of the problem to be addressed, supported by current and relevant local data.
- A defined target population and description of how they are impacted by this problem.
- Data specific to the local area and targeted population the project intends to serve.

Maximum funding amount of $4,950.
All activity must be completed within 90 days of receiving the equipment. All projects must terminate September 30.
Colorado law enforcement agencies may apply.
Only one application per law enforcement agency is permitted.
Applications are accepted October 1 through April 30.
Equipment-only requests require match of non-grant funded speed enforcement to be conducted by the agency.
Agencies will need to submit a paid invoice for equipment and overtime to CDOT, and CDOT will reimburse the agency for the costs.
