Grants of up to $18,500 to Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania health information organizations to support large-scale professional development events or symposia addressing healthcare information delivery and access. Applicants are strongly encouraged to consult with program staff prior to applying.

Description of Award:

The goal of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NNLM) is to advance the progress of medicine, improve public health by providing U.S. health professionals with equal access to biomedical information, and improve individuals' access to information to enable them to make informed decisions about their health. The NNLM is vital in the National Library of Medicine (NLM) outreach efforts to health professionals and the public to increase awareness of, facilitate access to, and provide training in the use of NLM's web-based information resources.

The purpose of the Regional Symposium Award is to support NNLM collaboration with Network members to plan symposia or large-scale professional development activities that address current trends in the healthcare landscape and their impact on information access and delivery. Activities must address methods to improve biomedical and health information access and delivery.

Awards to NNLM MAR members help achieve two National Network Performance Measures:
-Engage Network members in carrying out the mission of NNLM.
-Maintain a robust outreach and education program reaching the region’s communities and responsive to their needs.

Potential Projects:

Funded symposia must be open to Network members and not limited to attendees from a particular organization or limited geographic area. If your proposed event does not meet these criteria, you are encouraged to apply for another applicable award.

The budget estimate should be categorized by the following, as they apply:
-Consultant Costs (hourly rate)
-Direct Costs
-Indirect Costs (IDC) or Facilities and Administrative (F&A) Costs apply at your institution’s non-research rate (or, if your institution has no negotiated rate, a 10% Modified Total Direct Cost (MTDC) can be applied if you wish to claim it)
-Total cost of project
