Grants of up to $10,000 and technical assistance to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania nonprofit community benefit organizations to strengthen connections with stakeholders and the broader community. This program will assist organizations in developing an internet presence (including social media and websites), improving storytelling, reaching diverse communities, translating materials, and implementing improved communications software.
Program Purpose: Increase the presence and accessibility of community benefit organizations through improving the content, reach, and impact of their communications.
The grant award includes:
-A communications assessment to assess current activities and opportunities for growth.
-Three in-person workshops focused on enhancing communications practices.
Communications Project Examples:
-Improving reach and impact
1. Communications Challenge – How effectively does the proposal describe the organization’s biggest challenge, including details about how long and why this has existed? (‘communications challenge’ may include things like social media, web development, storytelling, etc.) Has the organization sufficiently described their impact, if the challenge is addressed?
2. Need/Opportunity – How effectively are the organizational needs, opportunities, and timeliness of this communications project?
3. Project Vision – How well does the proposal articulate a project vision that strengthens the organization’s communications content, reach and impact strategy, especially toward reaching diverse communities?
4. Cohort Commitment – Is the organization open to learning and committed to cohort participation? Have they described what they bring to the cohort makeup?
In October 2018, a design team will consult with each cohort partner to assess current communications practices and opportunities for growth.
Upon successful completion of the communications assessment and workshop attendance, cohort partners will submit a communications grant for $10,000.

The funding period is July 19, 2018 – July 19, 2019.
Applications must come from current 501(c)(3) community benefit organizations registered with or exempt from the PA Bureau of Charitable Organizations and complete a Form 990 annually.
The CBO Communications Infusion Info Meeting is scheduled for April 5th 9:00 – 10:00 am at The Lancaster Chamber of Commerce & Industry, 115 East King Street, Room 2F Lancaster, PA 17602.
