Grants ranging from $5,000 to $15,000 to Alaska nonprofit and faith-based organizations, government agencies, and schools for programs that promote cultural connections and understanding between Alaskans and people from other countries. Applicants are required to contact the Foundation prior to submitting an application.

The Alaska Community Foundation (ACF) awards grants to eligible organizations to support education, research, and building cultural connections between Alaskans and other nations. The Alaska International Understanding Grant program is made possible through the Irma Scavenius Memorial Fund for Furthering Understanding Between Alaskans and Those of Other Countries.

This grant is designed to support Program Expansion or Creation. Grant awards will support specific projects or programs that serve the goals of the fund and are linked to an organization’s primary service.

Additionally, ACF is highly interested in innovative programs that are responsive to community needs, partnerships, and collaborative efforts. Requests that build alliances and promote international peace and diplomacy will be especially competitive. Lower priority is given to equipment requests and duplication of existing programs.
