Award to a New Mexico grade 6-12 science teacher to recognize inspiring and effective teaching on the topic of plants, native plants, and plant science. The award should be used to further the effectiveness of teaching about plants. The award recipient will also receive a book about native New Mexico plants and a related curriculum.

Estimated Size of Grant:

A one-time award of $500 will be granted to the teacher. Additionally, teachers will receive one free teacher copy and one free classroom copy of Jack Carter’s book,Trees and Shrubs of New Mexico, as well as a copy of From Ponderosa to Prickly Pear, which is a curriculum developed by the Institute for Applied Ecology focusing specifically on Native Plants of New Mexico.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

This award recognizes grade 6-12 science teachers.
