Awards to Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC established business leaders from minority groups to honor their success and achievements in business in the Washington, DC area over the past 18 months. Individuals will be judged based on community philanthropy and leadership, professional accomplishments, as well as awards and milestones.
Eligible minority groups include: American Indian, Native Alaskan, Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, Asian, African-American, Hispanic or Latino.
Well-done nominations tell a personal story of the nominee’s path to success, obstacles overcome, unique talents, etc. The adage “show, don’t tell” applies here: Use concrete examples to persuade the judges that the nominee has made a mark on the local business community.
The Washington Business Journal will recognize the Minority Business Leaders at an evening cocktail reception and dinner on March 28, 2019. All honorees will also be profiled in the Washington Business Journal.

This program recognizes the Washington region's top 25 minority business leaders as well as 3 Rising Stars.
A nominee and company need to be locally based. Local means the District of Columbia, Northern Virginia and Montgomery County and Prince George's, Maryland.
The deadline for submissions is December 3, 2018. All submissions must be received no later than midnight. Self-nominations are accepted.
Winners will be required to attend a photo and video shoot at the Washington Business Journal's headquarters in Rosslyn.
Winners will also be required to attend a private dinner to be held on February 21, 2019 and the Minority Business Leader Awards ceremony on March 28, 2019. Please do not nominate business owners or leaders who will be on vacation or who have prior commitments during the time frame of the event.
