Contracts for services of up to $5,000 to California community-based organizations in eligible areas for community education programs addressing disasters and emergencies. The program is intended to address the needs of vulnerable populations in order to ensure that residents are prepared in case of a disaster. Community outreach and engagement must be targeted to high fire risk areas in the Southern California Edison service territory.

Primary Focus: CBOs submitting an RFP will be required to serve one or more of the following audiences of primary focus:

  • Tribal Nations
  • Chronic Conditions
  • All disabilities
  • Development or intellectual disabilities
  • Physical disabilities
    • Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing
    • Blind or Low vision
    • Deaf/Blind
  • Experiencing homelessness
  • Injuries
  • Limited English proficiency or non-English speaking
  • Low Income
  • People living in institutionalized settings
  • Seniors
  • Transportation disadvantage 
  • Individuals dependent on accessible transportation
  • Veterans
  • Pregnant women or nursing mothers
  • Children

Outreach activities will be conducted over a 12-month period, and funding will be provided to selected CBOs in quarterly disbursements, based on performance.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The objective of this RFP is to identify 501c3 Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) in good financial and legal standing to assist SCE in conducting community outreach and awareness with access functional needs communities within SCE’s service territory before, during, and after wildfires.

As a result of COVID-19, interaction has changed, and will continue to evolve in the coming months. Applicants should demonstrate the ability to reach a broad geographic footprint and the ability to reach a minimum of 500 constituents over a one-year period. Your thoughts are welcomed on creative ways to deliver information and engage with your community, in addition to newsletter articles, blog posts, social media posts, digital webinars, and limited outreach events, engaging at least one of the following targeted audiences.
