Grants of up to $5,000 to California community-based organizations in eligible regions for community education programs about the different options for electricity rate plans. Priority will be given to projects that focus on populations that are difficult to reach, such as low-income, disabled, multicultural, and seniors. As TOU has a greater effect on hot climate regions, CBOs servicing populations away from the coastal areas of the state are also a priority.

Organizations should be in the Southern California Edison service area: central, coastal and Southern California, excluding the City of Los Angeles and some other cities.

CBOs will play an important role in creating an ongoing dialogue with the community and serve to provide informal, real-time information regarding electricity rate options and assistance programs. Through education-based outreach, CBOs will help fill the gap in understanding and misconceptions among critical customer segments surrounding rate options.

Organizations will be selected based on established criteria such as community reach, resources and capabilities, and creativity.
