First 5 Shasta (F5S)
Grants ranging from $250 to $2,500 to Shasta County, California families, schools, churches, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations for programs that provide support to children and their families affected by wildfires.
Funding is intended for expenses that benefit pregnant women, children ages 0-to-5, their families, and providers working on behalf of young children in recovery from the impact of the recent wildfires affecting Shasta County during June through October 2018. Funds are intended to be used to create, enhance, or expand services. Proposed activities must be non-discriminatory and tobacco-free. Projects must serve more than one individual.
Projects may include but are not limited to:
- Mental health support for children, families, and/or providers
- Community events
- Projects providing goods or services directly to families with young children
- Training for providers working with young children and their families

For this grant period, projects need to be completed within the Fiscal Year. All funds need to be spent on or before the end date of the grant.
Groups eligible to request funds include, but are not limited to: parent groups, church groups, community groups, neighborhood associations, service clubs, schools, non-profit organizations, community-based organizations and government agencies.
A specific group or organization can receive more than one WRG in a fiscal year; however, each grant request must be for a different project in order to be considered for another award.
Individuals are not eligible to apply for a WRG.

Deadline: Applications are accepted through April 30, 2019 or until funds have been exhausted.
Wildfire Recovery funding requests are accepted by F5S on an on-going basis during the open funding cycle or until dedicated funds for that cycle are exhausted, whichever comes first.
North State QRIS Participants should review their request with their Mentor Coach to verify that the request is not eligible for QRIS funding. QRIS Mentor Coaches must sign the application prior to submission to verify this step.
