Grants to USA nonprofit organizations for projects and ideas that are focused on raising funds to build communities and help underserved groups and individuals. Funding will be based on the ability of an organization to raise donations for their cause. Three types of grants will be awarded: Project grants, Incentive grants, and Operating grants.

The project grants will be awarded at the discretion of Gannett, based primarily on the viability and sustainability of the project and how the project contributes to community building. Project grants must be used toward executing the project outlined in the organization’s application. Operating grants, incentive grants, and the money raised through crowdfunding campaigns should be used toward general operating expenses of the associated organization. The operating grants will be awarded by local decision makers based primarily on community need and how the organization’s mission contributes to community building. The incentive grants will be awarded based on fundraising totals.

This year, applicants will be divided into tiers based on the applicant pool to make the split as equitable as possible. Depending on your organization’s Tier, you must raise a minimum amount in donations in order to be eligible to receive a grant:
- Tier 1 entries must raise at least $3,000 in online donations to be eligible to receive a grant.
- Tier 2 entries must raise at least $6,000 in online donations to be eligible to receive a grant.

Community building is defined for this program as activities, projects or events that create or enhance the sense of community among individuals or groups in a region (neighborhood, city, or region).

There will be four (4) Weekly Challenges during the fundraising period. All qualified entrants shall be eligible to compete for the Weekly Challenge Grants. For more information about Weekly Challenge Grants see:
