Grants of up to $2,000 to South Carolina nonprofit organizations, government entities, educational institutions, faith-based organizations, and individuals in Richland and Lexington Counties, for community needs and enhancement. Grant proposals must address at least one of the ten issues that were identified as a community priority in the On the Table survey.

Identified priorities issues fall into two areas:

Enhancing what makes the community a good place to live:
- Quality public schools
- Superb outdoor parks and recreation (including access to the riverfront)
- Vibrant social community events (including online and print guides with information about local events and things to do)
- Remarkable diversity and inclusiveness

Addressing the needs that exist in the community:
- Good jobs and economic development
- Poverty and economic insecurity
- Crime, violence and public safety
- Race relations, racism and discrimination
- Walkable and bikeable urban areas
- Streamlining resources for entrepreneurs and small businesses

Proposed projects will be scored based on their ability to positively impact the community. Proposed projects should:
- Address at least one of the 10 focus areas identified above
- Be innovative in their approach (or new to the issue, population, community, etc.)
- Target a specific location or audience
- Be easily actionable (given your resources) and completed by the end of September
- Clearly identify partners and their specific roles on the project
- Have outcomes that can be easily measured (quantifiable)
- Generate outcomes beyond the life of the grant

Organizations can request up to $2,000.

Term of Contract:

May 1 to September 30, 2019.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Nonprofit organizations (in good standing under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code), government entities, educational institutions, faith-based organizations, and individuals with a fiscal sponsor are eligible to apply.

Organizations must have a physical location in Lexington or Richland Counties.

Examples of Non-Eligible Activities
- Routine operating expenses of an organization
- Grants to individuals without a fiscal sponsor
- Fundraising projects including events
- Debt reduction
- Endowment or capital campaigns
- Medical research
- Individual conference registrations
- Costs associated with the creation of starting a new nonprofit organization
- Completed projects or proposals that have already begun implementation
- Certifications and tuition fees

Pre-Application Information:

- February 7, 2019: Application opens
- March 15, 2019: Application closes
- April 15, 2019: Applicants notified of application status
- May 1, 2019: Project starts
- September 30, 2019: Project ends
- October 15, 2019: Final report due
