Grants ranging from $10,000 to $30,000 to Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia nonprofits serving the Greater Washington, DC area to address federal budget and policy changes that affect area residents. Funding is intended specifically for initiatives that directly respond to changes in the federal policy landscape over the past two years. This grant is not meant to fund ongoing work.

The Fund welcomes proposals linked to:
1. Policy shifts that are adversely impacting immigrants from the African and Caribbean Diaspora.
2. Issues affecting the social safety net including Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security and SNAP that disproportionately impacts people of color, immigrant, and refugee communities.
3. Civil discourse or community engagement.
4. Efforts that expand access to citizenship and democracy.
5. Residual effects of the 2019 government shutdown.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Grant awards may range from $10,000-$30,000.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Organizations must be 501(c)3 nonprofits OR have partnerships that appoint a 501(c)3 nonprofit institution as their fiduciary agent.

Organizations are required to operate in Washington, DC or the following counties: Montgomery and Prince George’s, MD; Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, Loudoun, and the cities of Alexandria, Falls Church, Fairfax, Manassas, and Manassas Park in Virginia.

Pre-Application Information:

Applications are due by 4:00 pm on Monday, July 29. Proposals will be reviewed in August 2019 and applicants will be notified if they have been selected for funding by September 2019.

Proposals must be submitted through the online grant application system, Gifts Online. No hard copy, email or faxed proposals will be accepted.
