Virginia Agriculture in the Classroom
Grants of up to $500 to Virginia PreK through 12th grade public and private school teachers and administrators, as well as 4H and FFA clubs and PTAs, for agricultural education. Funding is intended for experiential, hands-on learning about agriculture outside of a school garden. Projects may include, but are not limited to, farm-themed field trips, farm field days, and embryology units.
The Agriculture in the Classroom Agriculture Experience Grant Program was created to support schools and organizations who strive to connect students to the source of their food and fiber. Such a connection will help Virginia’s school children gain a greater knowledge and appreciation of agriculture.
Project and Application Guidelines:
- Agricultural concepts must be used. Preference will be given to projects that directly engage students in a hands-on agricultural experience.
- Students must be directly engaged in the educational component.
- Special consideration will be given to those applicants who incorporate Virginia Agriculture in the Classroom materials into their projects.
- Schools must have a daily attendance of at least 100 students. Smaller schools may choose to partner with others.
