Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $4,000 to Minnesota artists in eligible counties for career development and community impact projects. Eligible artists reside in one of the following counties: Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, or St. Louis. Proposals must demonstrate a benefit to the local community.

Criteria
- Artistic quality, both of past work and of the proposal presented
- Ability to carry out the project
- Impact of the project both on the artist’s career, but also the public impact of the project

An approved project must begin within six months. For both deadlines, your project must be completed and grant funds spent by June 30, 2021.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible to apply for this program, you must be at least eighteen years old, a U.S. citizen or have permanent resident status, and be a resident of Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, or St. Louis County for at least six months, and remain a Minnesota resident for the duration of the project. Individuals enrolled in arts-related degree programs are ineligible to apply.

Pre-Application Information:

Application deadlines for FY20:
- For projects beginning October 1, 2019: Friday, July 26, 2019, at 4:30 PM
- For projects beginning April 1, 2020: Friday, January 31, 2020, at 4:30 PM

Applications open six weeks prior to the deadline.

Board approval meetings will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2019, and Thursday, March 19, 2020.

Projects seeking financial support from both ARAC and the Minnesota State Arts Board (MSAB) may do so only after consulting with ARAC staff.

In a single ARAC fiscal year (July 1-June 30), you may receive one grant from each eligible program, as long as they are each for separate projects.
