Grants ranging from $5,000 to $25,000 to Monterey County, California nonprofit organizations, public schools, and school foundations for programs that benefit K-12 public school teachers. Funding is available in the form of monetary awards to teachers based on demonstrated merit and commitment. In addition, public school foundations may apply for support for nonathletic scholastic and arts programs for teacher professional development and enrichment, and for funding for necessary equipment and facility acquisition or improvements.

$5,000 – $25,000/year.

Approximately $33,000 will be available to grant each year from the Jean P. Fitton Fund to support professional development and enrichment activities for teachers in Monterey County.

Term of Contract:

Grants will be awarded for an 11-month grant period (December through October).

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Eligibility Criteria:
- Grants are open to 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations and public agencies.
- Only one grant application per organization will be considered.
- Only proposals supporting K-12th grade teachers will be accepted.
- All organizations applying for a grant must be current on reporting obligations for past CFMC grants.

What grant funds CANNOT support:
- Religious organizations that exclude services based on religious beliefs or promote a religious doctrine.
- Funding to schools and public agencies that would supplant tax-supported, mandated services.
- Expenses incurred prior to the grant award date.

Applications are due by the first Friday in October, 5:00 PM. Decisions will be announced by the end of November.
