Grants of up to $20,000 to Mississippi K-12 public schools for technology upgrades that enhance career and technical education programs. Funding is intended to equip classrooms or labs, in order to teach about recent technology aligned with industry and business in the local area, while ensuring secondary career pathways are implemented in Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources pathways. The goal of the program is to allow students to be prepared for success as they move into roles and jobs in business and industry.

Awarded occupational skills programs will be funded allowable equipment, software connectivity, and hardware necessary to fully implement the Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources curricula.

Each eligible school district receiving an award will use the funds to carry out activities that advance student achievement and support student success, including:

  • Secondary Career Pathways that are implemented in Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources.
  • Students preparation for success as they move into Agriculture roles and jobs in business and industry, and programs to implement the curricula.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Up to $20,000 per year per occupational skills program.

Term of Contract:

A subgrant award is made available for an approved project period up to 1-year contingent upon the availability of continued funding, and evidence of progress as documented in the annual evaluation report, if required. The grant period will be when all parties sign – June 30, 2020.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Any public school with a configuration including grade bands K - 12 is eligible to apply. This project is targeted for grades Kindergarten through twelfth (12th) grade.

Only one Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources program per district can apply.

Pre-Application Information:

One (1) original application and five (5) copies must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2019.

The deadline for submitting written questions by email is Thursday, October 10, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. Copies of all questions submitted, and responses will be posted to MDE’s website under the Public Notices section and will be available to the general public on Monday, October 14, 2019. No individual replies will be granted. Written questions concerning the RFA should be emailed to Rozelia Harris.

Approval of new subgrantees will be announced at the December 2019 meeting of the State Board of Education.
