Grants of up to $5,000 to Connecticut nonprofit organizations that work with children in eligible cities to provide training for staff members. Funding is intended to train organization staff on how to properly and effectively assist children who have experienced trauma. Training will be conducted by a professional trainer in the field and will include a series of trainings rather than a one-time event.

  • Use of evidence-based trauma-informed best practices throughout the organization
  • They have or are creating physically and psychologically safe and secure environments
  • They can develop and sustain a trauma-informed workforce
  • They address secondary traumatic stress and compassion fatigue among staff

The training must:

  • Contain an interactive role playing component to the selected model
  • Be part of a series of trainings and not a stand-alone, and/or one-time event
  • Have an evaluation component
