Grants of up to $40,000 to Washington neighborhood and informal groups, business groups, and community organizations to address local needs and improve the quality of life in local communities in eligible locations. Funding is intended to support new and existing projects and programs that benefit residents living in the Duwamish River Valley.

Proposals to the Duwamish River Opportunity Fund should address one or more of the following:

  • Safe fishing or fish consumption   
  • Environmental development or restoration
  • Job training or economic development 
  • Community development
  • Pedestrian safety
  • Affordable housing strategies
  • Healthy lifestyle 
  • Emerging issues, i.e, COVID-19, homelessness, West Seattle Bridge closure.

The maximum DROF award amount is $40,000.

Term of Contract:

Awarded projects must be able to commit by January 1, 2023 and be completed by September 30, 2023.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Neighborhood groups, community organizations, informal groups, and business groups who want to do a project or program that is impactful and improves the quality of life for communities living in the Duwamish River Valley are eligible to apply.
