Grants of up to $1,500 to Alaska individuals and families in eligible locations for support during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) health crisis. Funding is intended to assist local households that have been economically impacted by the pandemic. Eligible applicants are residents of Soldotna. Economic harm may include things such as being laid-off, loss of unemployment benefits, reduced hours or pay, and reduced access to services like daycare.

Financial hardship and impact include the following if caused by the pandemic:

  • Layoff or furlough: If any household member was laid off from a job or put on furlough.
  • Lack of unemployment benefits: If any household member is unable to collect unemployment or has run out of benefits.
  • Lack of seasonal or supplemental employment: If any household member is unable to find a seasonal or usual supplemental job.
  • Reduced hours or pay: If any household member has experienced reduced hours or pay by current employer.
  • Reduced access to services: If any household member experienced reduced services such as medical services, senior citizen services (lunches, rides), school lunch programs, and childcare.
  • Other: If any household member was impacted in any way not listed above, including impacts resulting from COVID-19 public health mandates or restrictions.

Estimated Size of Grant:

The amount of each individual grant award will equal the value of the household’s eligible expenses not to exceed $1,500.

Term of Contract:

Grant awards are to be used for COVID-19 expenses incurred through December 15, 2020. Expenses incurred prior to March 31, 2020, are not eligible.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must be permanent city residents, must certify that they are experiencing economic harm, and must provide receipts of qualifying expenses.

To be eligible for an Economic Relief Grant, applicants must:
- Describe and certify that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused the household financial hardship.
- Submit a completed and signed W-9 form.
- Provide two (2) forms of proof of your Soldotna residency.
- Provide proof of payment, bills, or invoices for qualifying program expenses.

Applications will be accepted until October 30, 2020, by 5:00 PM. All applications must be postmarked no later than October 30, 2020, in order to be considered.

Grants will be awarded to eligible applicants on a rolling basis until the application deadline), or until available funds are exhausted, whichever comes first.
