Estimated Size of Grant:

Up to approximately $100,000 per grant award. Promising projects may be awarded more than $100,000, at the CARE Fund Board’s discretion.

Term of Contract:

Project support is for up to one year. The earliest project start date is March 15, 2021.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Grants are awarded to institutions or organizations, not individuals.

- Organizations in Washington State including companies, universities, research institutions, local health jurisdictions, tribal governments, tribal entities, and Urban Indian Organizations are eligible to apply for a COVID-19 Response Grant.
- Applicant organization and principal investigator must be: 1) working on a project, 2) able to expand an existing project, or 3) able to rapidly start up a new project that focuses on an area at the intersection of COVID-19 and cancer, where CARE funding would demonstrably advance the project.

Grants must be used solely for research projects in Washington State at the intersection of COVID-19 and cancer. Projects with collaborations outside of Washington State are allowed, however, the principal investigator and the primary research activities and funding of the project must be within Washington State.

Projects awarded by the CARE Fund COVID-19 program in previous cycles are not eligible for funding.
