Grants to Georgia government agencies and commissions to support trail development projects. Applicants must submit a pre-application prior to submitting a full proposal. Funding is intended to support recreational trails and trail-related facilities for both nonmotorized and motorized recreational trail uses.

The goal of RTP grant funding is to enhance trail opportunities by achieving results that would not otherwise be possible. RTP grants are for projects that are primarily recreational in nature, rather than serving a more utilitarian transportation function. RTP grants fund on-the-ground trail projects for public outdoor recreation.

Eligible projects for nonmotorized trails include pedestrian (hiking, running, walking, and wheelchair access), biking, mountain biking, skating, water trail access, and equestrian riding. For additional information, see:

Estimated Size of Grant:

The maximum grant amount for nonmotorized trails: $200,000

Funding allocation for motorized trails: approximately $1 million. No maximum grant amount has been established.

Eligible applicants include qualified local governments, authorized commissions, and state and federal agencies.
