Grant Description
Grant to a USA nonprofit or for-profit organization, government agency, IHE, Tribe, faith-based or community-based organization, or hospital to assist individuals who have experienced traumatic brain injury (TBI). Applicants must complete required registrations prior to applying. Each applicant institution must propose a research collaboration of four or more sites, at least three of which must be current NIDILRR-funded TBIMS Centers.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement is to improve the lives of individuals with TBI through a multi-site collaborative research project on a topic(s) related to rehabilitation following traumatic brain injury (TBI). The TBIMS multi-site collaborative research project may contribute to the advancement of the science at any stage of research. The project will leverage the capacities of the Traumatic Brain Injury Model System (TBIMS) Centers Program. The TBIMS Centers conduct research with the ultimate goal of improving the health and function, community living and participation, and employment outcomes of individuals with TBI. The eligibility criterion for this grant opportunity is the same as that for the TBIMS Centers grant opportunity. As a prerequisite for funding, an applicant institution must provide a multidisciplinary system of rehabilitation care designed to meet the needs of individuals with TBI. Specifically, an applicant institution must provide a continuum of care for people with TBI, including emergency medical services, acute care services, acute medical rehabilitation services, and post-acute services. An applicant may be, but is not required to be, a currently funded TBIMS Center.
