Apply Now: Texas Disaster Relief

If you’ve been impacted by the recent events in Texas, you can now apply for disaster relief. A rollout of funding and aid has become available since President Biden declared a major disaster exists in the State of Texas.

Earlier this week, the White House partially approved the Major Disaster Declaration request by Governor Abbott. This included Individual Assistance in 77 counties and for Public Assistance (Emergency Protective Measures Only) in all 254 counties. Furthermore, additional counties will continue to be re-requested as the State of Texas continues to receive information reported from individuals who have suffered damage from the winter storm.

Texans are urged to fill out the Texas Individual Assistance Reporting Tool (TIART) to help the state identify damages. This will help emergency management officials gain an understanding of damages that occurred during the recent winter weather.

While dialing 911 provides emergency assistance, dialing 211 will connect you to human services and other social assistance programs. 211 calls can offer guidance on issues ranging from troubles with housing and shelter, rent payments, employment and education, income assistance, food and meal assistance, legal assistance, health and dental care, mental health, help with clothing and household items, substance abuse programs, transportation and reentry to society, family care and more.

In the event of an emergency, you can also provide your information to the State of Texas Emergency Assistance Registry (STEAR). Subsequently, emergency management officials will work to help you evacuate safely, or provide you with the appropriate life-sustaining help you need in a disaster.
