The JetBlue Foundation Awards Grants on Mentorship, Diversity, STEM, & Technical Education

The JetBlue foundation has begun awarding almost $250,000 in grants as, the first airline foundation focused on supporting the aviation industry. They are supporting 13 programs focused on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), and aviation education, as well as mentorship programs, and technical education training, while adding more diversity within the industry.

According to Ursula Hurley, President of the JetBlue Foundation, “The JetBlue Foundation is creating clearer career pathways for the next generation in aviation. We’re making an investment in our children and in the future of our industry.”

The JetBlue Foundation has built long lasting relationships with over 80 STEM and aviation programs, introducing students to a variety of careers in the aviation industry. With a goal of being the first airline foundation focused on supporting the aviation industry, they have also helped spark interest in STEM programs and aviation-related programs in underrepresented communities. In the past 6 years, the JetBlue Foundation has awarded $1.5 million in grants.

Some of the 2019 JetBlue Foundation grant recipients include the ACE Mentor Program of New York, Latino Pilots Association, National CARES Mentoring Movement, New York on Tech, YMCA of Northern Utah, and More. For the first time ever, the JetBlue Foundation has awarded its first international grant to the Caribbean Science Foundation in Barbados, West Indies. This grant will back their Computer Coding Workshop and other initiatives to support girls and women in Barbados.
