Five Arts and Culture Grants to Check Out This Week

Human beings are naturally artistic. It’s part of the way that we express ourselves, communicate our feelings with others and inspire others. Art is something that we have always interacted with, from prehistoric cave drawings to the explosion of art during the enlightenment. Art takes so many forms, from the written word to sculptures to paintings.

Here are five Arts and Culture grants that are available on GrantWatch:

1) Awards of up to $25,000 to U.S. and its territories artists and artist groups to recognize exceptional contributions in the area of folk arts. Eligible artistic genres include, but are not limited to crafts, dance, music, and oral expression. Special consideration will be given to nominated artists residing in Arkansas, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Delaware, Guam, Indiana, Northern Marianas, Kansas, Utah, US Virgin Islands, and Vermont. Deadline: 7/30/21

2) Grants of $1,500 to U.S. individual artists to support art projects. Eligible art disciplines include visual arts projects and new fine crafts. Funding is intended to support the creation of artwork and to help artists continue their work and undertake new projects. Additionally, the Foundation seeks to increase public appreciation for the arts. Deadline: 7/31/21

3) Grants of up to $5,000 to Louisiana nonprofit arts organizations to help support local performing artists. Funding is intended to assist with costs related to hiring state-based performers for festivals or other public cultural events that take place in Louisiana. Deadline: 8/6/21

4) Grants to the U.S. and its territories’ government agencies and nonprofit organizations for collaborative arts and cultural projects that address community issues. Applicants are advised that required registrations take several weeks to finalize. Deadline: 8/5/21

5) Grants to nonprofit organizations for original and innovative projects that advance scholarship in the arts. Funding is intended for the focus areas of exhibitions, academics, conservation, and convening. Although the Foundation funds projects from across the United States and abroad, it is particularly interested in receiving proposals from the target regions. In the U.S., this includes Arizona, Illinois, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. Deadline: 9/15/21
