Honoring Daffodil Day with Grants for Cancer Research and Treatment

Daffodil Day is an annual event all about showing support for cancer research and bringing awareness to the people facing this disease. The history of the day dates back to 1956 when the Canadian Cancer Society would use daffodils as a symbol of hope at their events to raise money for cancer research. Since then, the American Cancer Society has followed suit with its “daffodil days” celebration. During daffodil days, people can buy bundles of the flower for themselves or for cancer patients and the money will go to cancer research.

In 2020, more than 600,000 people died of cancer in the U.S., according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Furthermore, the National Cancer Institute estimates that 39.5% of men and women will have cancer at some point.

This year, Daffodil Day is on March 22nd. GrantWatch will be recognizing the day by sharing 10 grants below for cancer research and treatment.
