According to the National Institute of Mental Health, an estimated one in five U.S. adults have a mental illness. This means that in 2020, a total of 52.9 million adults suffered from mental illness.   1. Firstly, there are grants to U.S. nonprofit organizations to implement mental health programming for youth. Funding is for programs in schools and communities.
  2. Grants to U.S. public and private schools, LEAs, and charter school management companies to create mental health programs. The funding will support the placement of licensed mental health professionals (referred to as Transitional Coaches) on school campuses.
  3. There were also grants of up to $5,000 to U.S. medical schools for projects on substance abuse and mental health disorders. Funding is to support community programs initiated and led by medical students with a particular focus on disadvantaged minority populations.
  4. Financial assistance is available to U.S. healthcare workers for mental health care treatment. Funding is to help cover the cost of counseling services, prescription drugs, cognitive behavioral therapy, and transportation needed to treat behavioral health issues resulting from frontline work during the pandemic.
  5. In addition, there are grants to U.S. nonprofits and human service agencies for activities that improve mental health for infants and children.
  6. Grants are also available to U.S. nonprofits and government entities to improve the accessibility of mental health services.
  7. There is funding for U.S. states, counties, LEAs, tribes, nonprofits, and health facilities and services for mental health services and programs that benefit K-12 children and youth.
  8. Funding is also available for U.S. and territories private and public IHEs for campus-based mental health programs. Funding is to provide access to mental health services for all students, prevent substance abuse, treat at-risk students, and more.
  9. Additionally, there are grants to Black individuals working in the hospitality industry for mental health support during COVID-19.
  10. Finally, there are grants to nonprofits, government agencies, IHEs, for-profits, and tribes for behavioral health programs that benefit law enforcement officers.
