Montgomery County Awards Grants To Nonprofits To Help With Food Insecurity

The COVID-19 pandemic has had massive economic implications and has hit many people who were already living paycheck to paycheck.

And now with many people struggling, nonprofits all over Montgomery County are working to help struggling residents have access to food. Food insecurity is a major issue, especially during this pandemic, and people need help to feed their families. And what’s really key in these awards is the priority that Montgomery County has put on ensuring that cultural groups have access to food as well. This includes ensuring that kosher and halal meals will be available as well.

In a press release, County Executive Marc Elrich said this about these nonprofits receiving the funding to help with food insecurity:

The need for food assistance has grown dramatically because of this pandemic, and I am appreciative of the work with many of our community partners to get food to our residents as best as possible. We will continue our work together to address the needs of our residents during this difficult time.
