Small businesses are the backbone of America. Small businesses in the United States bore the brunt of the restrictions and lockdowns from COVID-19<\/a> in so many ways. Furthermore, so many small businesses closed or came close to it. While some businesses were able to receive help from state and federal government programs, many were left without help. Many businesses also tried to pivot by turning to e-commerce and tried to sell online. Recently, more states are setting up programs to assist these businesses through grants and other avenues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’ve compiled a list of five grants geared toward helping small businesses succeed. While some of the grants are specific to COVID-19 recovery, others are focused on specific projects. We hope you find a grant that can help you in your journey! More business grants will be shared very soon, so stay tuned!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grants For Small Businesses To Assist Your Grant-Seeking Journey<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Let’s begin with the Commonwealth of Virginia: <\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n

1. There is currently a grant for businesses, local governments, and organizations. This grant is for new tourism marketing programs in the wake of COVID-19<\/a>. Considering the effect the pandemic had on local tourism economies, this grant can be a lifeline for many. Specifically, this funding is for marketing programs to attract new tourists to the state. Up to $20,000 will go to counties, towns, cities, marketing organizations, businesses, chambers of commerce, museums, and other tourism-related entities throughout Virginia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let’s venture to the state of California, for some help for small and micro businesses:<\/strong> <\/h6>\n\n\n\n

2. Small or micro-businesses in California, may be eligible to apply for support during the COVID-19 health crisis. Respectively, grants of $10,000 and $25,000 are available to businesses affected by the pandemic. California, which has over 4 million small businesses<\/a>, saw many forced to shutter during the pandemic. Many that survived are opening for the first time in a year so that this grant could be beneficial. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now let’s jump over to Nebraska: <\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n

3. Grants are available to Nebraska employers and labor organizations<\/a> for workforce training and development programs. Intended to expand the state\u2019s skilled labor pool and workforce, this funding is for projects that recruit, train, and upgrade skills for workers while building productivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This grant in Kansas is focused on a specific area:<\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n

4. Kansas businesses in Cloud County <\/a>may be eligible for grants and in-kind support for the construction of a new building or the repair of an existing structure. The purpose of this program is to encourage local economic development as well as to increase the property value of existing structures or land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let’s end this list with a specific grant from Minnesota<\/strong>:<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

5. Minnesota auto repair shops in eligible areas, may be eligible for grants. This grant will go towards projects that reduce pollution and energy consumption. <\/a>Up to $25,000 is available to auto repair shops for projects that focus on these objectives. All interested applicants have to meet with a technical assistance person beforehand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
