This new reality has made it increasingly hard for households to come up with the money for rent or utilities, leaving more people to rely on rental assistance from private or government entities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the number of adults still not caught up on rent has remained above 10 million people, 1 in 7 adults, since the end of March 2021. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbpp.org\/research\/housing\/federal-rental-assistance-fact-sheets#US\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities<\/a> (CBPP) states that 5.2 million households in the U.S. are using federal rental assistance. According to the organization, the median rent for an apartment has also increased by 13 percent from what it was in 2001.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is important to continue to provide funding that makes sure people have the shelter they need. In 2018, half a million people had experienced homelessness for at least a single night. Rental assistance can help make sure this number does not continue to grow. Funding is to assist income-eligible individuals and families who have been negatively impacted by the pandemic and are struggling with rent payments.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Financial assistance to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grant\/195738\/financial-assistance-to-california-residents-in-eligible-locations-for-housing-expenses-during-the-covid-crisis.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">California landlords<\/a> and tenants within San Bernardino County for housing expenses during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.
