STEAM education focuses on five disciplines: science, technology, engineering, art, and math. The acronym originally started out as just STEM but was changed later to include art. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A thorough STEAM education is crucial to today&#8217;s youth because it allows them to have exposure to a variety of subjects which helps develop their critical thinking skills. Jobs in these fields are also on the rise according to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/emp\/tables\/stem-employment.htm\">Bureau of Labor Statistics<\/a>. The organization projects that STEM jobs will increase by 8.8 percent between 2018-2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another <a href=\"https:\/\/elearninginfographics.com\/steam-not-just-stem-education-infographic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">report<\/a> highlights the importance of including art programming. The report shows that on average, students who study the arts for four years in high school score 98 points higher on the SAT than students who study the arts for half a year or less.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/grantwatch.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GrantWatch<\/a> has a category specifically for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grants-filter.php?recipient_id%5B%5D=Select+All&amp;recipient_id%5B%5D=1&amp;recipient_id%5B%5D=2&amp;recipient_id%5B%5D=3&amp;category_id%5B%5D=30\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">science grants<\/a>, as well as one for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grants-filter.php?recipient_id%5B%5D=1&amp;recipient_id%5B%5D=2&amp;recipient_id%5B%5D=3&amp;category_id%5B%5D=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Arts and Culture<\/a> and one for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grants-filter.php?recipient_id%5B%5D=1&amp;recipient_id%5B%5D=2&amp;recipient_id%5B%5D=3&amp;category_id%5B%5D=36\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">technology<\/a>. Nov. 8 is National STEAM\/STEM Day. In honor of the day, GrantWatch is acknowledging these five fields by sharing five grants specifically for STEAM education initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Grants to Improve STEM\/STEAM Education<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Grants of up to $35,000 to USA IHE faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and scholars for educational research projects involving <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grant\/181934\/grants-to-usa-ihe-faculty-postdoctoral-researchers-and-doctoral-scholars-for-educational-research-projects.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">STEM education and learning<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/li><li>In addition, there is funding available to U.S. nonprofits, for-profits, IHEs, and agencies to strengthen the quality of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grant\/154919\/grants-to-usa-nonprofits-for-profits-ihes-and-agencies-to-strengthen-the-quality-of-stem-education.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">STEM education<\/a>. <\/li><li>Grants to U.S. nonprofits in multiple states for literacy and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grant\/181343\/grants-to-usa-nonprofits-in-multiple-states-for-literacy-and-steam-focused-educational-programming.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">STEAM-focused <\/a>educational programs for grades PreK-8. <\/li><li>Additionally, funding is available to IHEs to enhance undergraduate STEM programs for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grant\/182939\/grants-to-usa-ihes-to-enhance-undergraduate-stem-programs-for-hispanic-populations.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hispanic populations<\/a>. <\/li><li>Finally, there are grants available to U.S. nonprofits and schools for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grant\/163350\/grants-to-usa-nonprofits-and-schools-for-stem-education-the-environment-and-local-community-programming.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">STEM education<\/a>, the environment, and local community programming. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What Can You Do on National STEM\/STEAM Day<\/strong>?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If your school does not have STEM programming currently, maybe there&#8217;s a way to fix that. Start a fundraiser to help fund STEM programming, talk to your local school board, or maybe <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">locate a grant<\/a> that will help fund a STEM program long-term. <\/li><li>If you have kids, or nieces\/nephews, encourage their interest in science, engineering, technology, math, or the arts. There are many resources available that are inexpensive or free to help with an early interest in almost any topic.
