Today, we’re shining the spotlight on American Education Week! This week, the community comes together to celebrate the nation’s public schools, as well as the individuals working to ensure that every student receives a quality education<\/a>. Each day of the week has its own theme, with festivities honoring everyone from the bus driver, to the cafeteria worker, administrative staff, plus countless others.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10 Grants to Support Education<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

1)<\/strong> In-kind grants are available to schools, school districts, parents, and guardians to provide K-12 students with internet access and software<\/strong><\/a>. In addition to receiving free mobile hotspots and internet connections, recipients also have the opportunity to purchase laptops and tablets at cost. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2)<\/strong> Head Start programs, preschools, and elementary schools, can apply for funding to implement a STEM learning program<\/strong><\/a>. This grant is to assist students in feeling confident and capable with science and technology and to develop their STEM Identity and Technology Fluency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3)<\/strong> Grants of up to $3,000 are available to K-12 schools to supply meals for students<\/a><\/strong>. In addition, this funding can support the provision of equipment used in food preparation, sanitation and cleaning, transport and serving of food items, and cold storage of perishable food items. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

4)<\/strong> Schools can now apply for funding to create mental health programs<\/a><\/strong> to ensure children receive mental health services. This grant will support the placement of licensed mental health professionals on school campuses in collaboration with school district-designated program personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5)<\/strong> Full-time public school educators – including counselors, librarians, nurses, and therapists – can obtain funding for classroom projects<\/strong><\/a> that benefit students. For instance, examples of learning opportunities include books, materials, technology, and field trips.

6)<\/strong> In-kind donations of fruit trees, equipment, volunteer workers, and training are now available to public schools. The purpose of this grant is for schools to create orchards<\/a> <\/strong>and improve the surrounding environment while providing a source of healthy nutrition for the community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

7)<\/strong> Classroom educators can apply for a $500 grant for classroom projects and lessons related to aviation<\/a><\/strong> or aerospace. These grant funds may be used to defray the costs of transportation, field trips, materials by schools, coordinators, teachers, and homeschooling cooperatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8) <\/strong>Up to $1,000 is available to middle schools for music education<\/strong><\/a>. This is intended to inspire students by exposing them to professional musicians, through concerts and mentoring programs. However, string education must be a key component of any music program requesting funds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9)<\/strong> To teach students about responsible pet care and bonding with animals, PreK-9 teachers can apply for funding. Up to $125 plus discounts are available for pet maintenance or to purchase a new pet for the classroom<\/strong><\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

10)<\/strong> Meanwhile, grants are available to school libraries<\/a><\/strong> for books and other reading materials. This funding is aimed at encouraging students to develop an interest in learning and reading. Items such as electronic books, periodicals, reference materials, magazine subscriptions are all eligible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
