Daffodil Day is an annual event all about showing support for cancer research and bringing awareness to the people facing this disease. The history of the day dates back to 1956 when the Canadian Cancer Society would use daffodils as a symbol of hope at their events to raise money for cancer research. Since then, the American Cancer Society has followed suit with its “daffodil days” celebration. During daffodil days, people can buy bundles of the flower for themselves or for cancer patients and the money will go to cancer research. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2020, more than 600,000 people died of cancer in the U.S., according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Furthermore, the National Cancer Institute estimates that 39.5% of men and women will have cancer at some point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, Daffodil Day is on March 22nd. GrantWatch <\/a>will be recognizing the day by sharing 10 grants below for cancer research and treatment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

8 Grants Focused on Fighting Cancer <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
  1. Firstly, there are grants to U.S. researchers associated with institutions for projects to improve the treatment of patients with cancer<\/a>. Eligible projects are those that utilize patient-reported outcome measures to inform patient monitoring and management.<\/li>
  2. Grants to U.S. researchers affiliated with nonprofit institutions to support cancer research<\/a>. Funding is to support projects that find new treatments or cures. Eligible applicants are post-doctoral researchers. <\/li>
  3. There are also grants to U.S., Canada, and International researchers for cancer-related research studies and projects<\/a>. Funding is to support a wide range of projects related to basic, translational, clinical, epidemiological, and health services research associated with lung cancer.<\/li>
  4. Grants are available to U.S., Canada, and International researchers for cancer-related research projects<\/a>. Funding is for research studies that focus on identifying, characterizing, treating, or overcoming resistance to therapies in lung tumors harboring alterations in oncogenic drivers in NSCLC cells, tissues, mouse models, or patients.<\/li>
  5. In addition, funding is available to investigators affiliated with academic research institutions for research related to prostate cancer<\/a>. <\/li>
  6. Grants to U.S. investigators for research related to ovarian cancer<\/a>. Funding is to allow researchers to collect additional data needed in order to resubmit a proposal for federal funding. <\/li>
  7. Additionally, there are grants of $500 and grants of $750 to cancer patients<\/a> to offset costs related to treatment. <\/li>
  8. Lastly, there are grants to U.S. families of children with cancer<\/a> for financial support. Eligible expenses include travel costs for treatments, mortgage payments\/rent, and prescription medications not covered by insurance.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
