Subsequently, many organizations are in dire need of funding to help individuals learn how to achieve financial self-sufficiency. In addition, April marks the start of Financial Literacy Month. As a result, the nationally-recognized campaign helps bring awareness to the need of more financial education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How Does Financial Literacy Affect Us?<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usfinancialcapability.org\/downloads\/NFCS_2018_Report_Natl_Findings.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FINRA<\/a>, only 34% of Americans can answer at least four of five basic financial literacy questions. These questions are general knowledge on topics such as mortgages, interest rates, inflation and risk. As a result, a significant portion of the population remains financially illiterate. Specifically, this means that they lack the ability to understand and effectively use various financial skills, including personal financial management, budgeting and investing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Without these skills, Americans struggle with everyday tasks, from paying bills, buying a home, or planning retirement. Many Americans have money problems because of financial illiteracy, and the issue persists globally.&nbsp;The disparity of financial knowledge between minority groups and non-minority groups is also extensive, despite similar economic contributions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Financial Literacy Statistics Overview:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>78% of adults <\/strong>live paycheck to paycheck<\/li><li><strong>4 in 7 Americans<\/strong>&nbsp;are financially illiterate.<\/li><li>Also, only&nbsp;<strong>24 percent of millennials understand<\/strong>&nbsp;basic financial topics.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Can Financial Literacy Programs Help?<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Comparatively, a basic financial education encourages better money management skills, decision-making graft, strong budgeting and&nbsp;spending habits. Equally important, it also promotes fiduciary confidence which can be passed down to children within the household. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Being financially literate makes you less susceptible to financial scams.<\/li><li>In addition, those with a higher level of financial literacy are more likely to cope with financial crises.<\/li><li>Financial education also helps to increase the likelihood of becoming financially responsible.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Since there is a demand for more financial literacy education, grantmakers are stepping up to help. Financial literacy grants are also open to nonprofit organizations <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grant\/175956\/grants-to-usa-nonprofits-in-eligible-regions-to-benefit-local-communities.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">in eligible areas<\/a> within <strong>Arkansas<\/strong>, <strong>Alabama<\/strong>, <strong>Georgia<\/strong>, <strong>Mississippi<\/strong>, <strong>Louisiana<\/strong>, <strong>North Carolina<\/strong>, <strong>South Carolina<\/strong>, <strong>Florida<\/strong>, <strong>Tennessee<\/strong>, <strong>New York City<\/strong>, and <strong>Texas<\/strong>.<\/li><li>3. $500 to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grant\/179643\/grants-to-florida-and-georgia-teachers-in-eligible-regions-to-enhance-the-curriculum.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Florida<\/a><\/strong>* and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grant\/179643\/grants-to-florida-and-georgia-teachers-in-eligible-regions-to-enhance-the-curriculum.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Georgia<\/a><\/strong>* teachers for programs that integrate financial literacy into the curriculum.<\/li><li>4. Up to $25,000 to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grant\/172121\/grants-to-new-jersey-nonprofits-to-meet-the-needs-of-local-residents.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>New Jersey<\/strong> nonprofit organizations<\/a> to fund programs aligning with financial literacy and education.<\/li><li>16. Nonprofit and faith-based organizations, municipalities, libraries, and schools for financial literacy programs that benefit residents within the counties of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grant\/167070\/grants-to-ohio-and-pennsylvania-nonprofits-agencies-and-schools-for-programs-that-benefit-the-community.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Trumball in <strong>Ohio<\/strong> and\/or Mercer and Lawrence in <strong>Pennsylvania<\/strong><\/a>. <\/li><li>17. Up to $20,000 to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grant\/173528\/grants-to-south-dakota-nonprofits-for-programs-that-enhance-the-quality-of-life-for-local-residents.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>South Dakota<\/strong> nonprofit organizations<\/a> for financial literacy programs. <\/li><li>18.
