Homelessness is a serious problem in the United States, and it does not seem to be getting any better. According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, between 2019 and 2020, homelessness increased by two percent. In the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s recent Annual Homeless Assessment Report<\/a>, statistics showed that “582,462 people were experiencing homelessness on a single night in January 2022.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To ensure this problem does not get worse, it is important to provide programs with the funding necessary to make a difference. Homelessness programs ensure that more people can receive a variety of services, including shelter and food, drug and alcohol rehab, mental health treatment, and workforce training. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Especially during the colder months, it is crucial that people have access to shelter and warmth. For this reason, GrantWatch is sharing 10 of the top grants to fund homelessness programs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. In-kind grants of donated goods and services<\/a> are available to organizations for distribution programs to support homeless, low-income, and disabled veterans. This includes necessities like water, health, hygiene, and clothing items for veterans from all walks of life.<\/li>
  2. Grants of $50,000 <\/a>are offered to nonprofits, agencies, and faith-based entities for projects that address the health needs of vulnerable populations, including people experiencing homelessness. \u200b\u200b<\/li>
  3. Grants are available to nonprofits for construction projects that benefit military veterans and address homelessness<\/a> in eligible communities.<\/li>
  4. Grants are open to California cities, counties, and public housing entities to address the needs of homeless populations<\/a>. <\/li>
  5. In addition, funding is available to Indiana nonprofits and agencies to improve the lives of local residents in eligible counties. Areas of focus include substance abuse, mental health, and homelessness<\/a>.<\/li>
  6. There are also grants of up to $5,000<\/a> for Rhode Island nonprofits that provide essential needs in local communities. This includes human services, housing and shelter, and food.<\/li>
  7. Additionally, grants are offered to Minnesota and Wisconsin nonprofits in eligible areas to address and prevent homelessness<\/a>. <\/li>
  8. Grants and loans are also available to New York nonprofits, public corporations, charitable organizations, and municipalities to increase housing<\/a> for low-income families experiencing homelessness.<\/li>
  9. There are also grants and in-kind support for Texas nonprofits in eligible areas to mitigate the effects of poverty. Funding is for projects within the focus areas of homelessness<\/a>, hunger, and women’s shelter.<\/li>
  10. Finally, grants are available to Virginia city, town, and county governments to repair and rehabilitate shelter facilities.<\/a> <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
