Not only does the beginning of February signify the start of Black History Month, but it also indicates the imminent arrival of Groundhog&#8217;s Day, Super Bowl Sunday, Valentine&#8217;s Day, and President&#8217;s Day. However, another in the month of February that is often overlooked is National Library Lovers&#8217; Month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>National Library Lovers&#8217; Month recognizes the importance of libraries and what they bring to their communities. This includes school libraries, as well as public libraries. According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/libguides.ala.org\/c.php?g=751692&amp;p=9132142\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">American Library Association <\/a>(ALA), there are roughly 116,867 libraries of all kinds in the United States today. These buildings are a safe space for many people \u2014 a place to learn, grow, and develop skills. Libraries provide the public with many free resources. For many individuals, this might be the only access to the internet that they have. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For these reasons, it is important that libraries get the continued funding they need to operate. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GrantWatch.com <\/a>has a category specifically for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grants-filter.php?category_id%5B%5D=22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Literacy &amp; Libraries<\/a>. Below, are a few ways to celebrate the month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to Celebrate National Library Lovers<\/strong>&#8216;<strong> Month<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Set aside time to visit your own local library. <\/li><li>Reach out to a library about volunteering.  <\/li><li>Read a new book.<\/li><li>Share your favorite memory at a library on social media along with the hashtag, #NationalLibraryLovers&#8217;Month.<\/li><li>Start a book club or join an already existing book club.<\/li><li>Donate any old books you might have to a library, classroom, or nonprofit. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>10 Grants that Provide Funding for Libraries<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In-kind donations of <a href=\"https:\/\/grantwatch.com\/grant\/165910\/in-kind-donations-of-children-s-books-to-usa-rural-libraries-affected-by-natural-disasters.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">new books<\/a> valued at $800 are available to libraries in rural areas that have been impacted by natural disasters.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Awards of <a href=\"https:\/\/grantwatch.com\/grant\/192813\/award-to-a-usa-canada-or-international-library-or-library-system-to-recognize-the-development-of-a-useful-reference-tool.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$1,500<\/a> are available to a library or library system for the creation of a new reference tool to benefit patrons.<\/li><li>Grants of $500 are also available to community organizations and libraries serving families and children for <a href=\"https:\/\/grantwatch.com\/grant\/173301\/grants-to-usa-community-organizations-and-libraries-for-storytelling-programs-for-indigenous-populations.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">storytelling programs<\/a>.<\/li><li>Opportunities exist for library workers and Library&nbsp;and&nbsp;Information Science students to participate in a data service <a href=\"https:\/\/grantwatch.com\/grant\/203779\/opportunity-for-usa-library-workers-and-lis-students-to-participate-in-a-data-service-training-program.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">training program<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Additionally, in-kind grants of <a href=\"https:\/\/grantwatch.com\/grant\/178554\/in-kind-grants-of-new-children-s-books-to-usa-public-and-tribal-libraries-in-rural-areas.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">new children&#8217;s books<\/a> are available to USA public and tribal libraries in rural areas.&nbsp;<\/li><li>There are in-kind <a href=\"https:\/\/grantwatch.com\/grant\/174863\/in-kind-donations-of-books-to-usa-nonprofits-schools-and-agencies-to-supplement-library-collections.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">donations of books<\/a> for USA nonprofits, schools, colleges and universities, museums and libraries, and local, state, and federal government agencies to build library collections.<\/li><li>Grants of <a href=\"https:\/\/grantwatch.com\/grant\/201442\/grants-to-usa-and-canada-libraries-to-develop-gaming-collections-and-programs.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">up to $500<\/a> are also open to USA and Canada schools and public libraries to develop gaming collections and programs for their local communities.<\/li><li>USA school libraries can apply for an <a href=\"https:\/\/grantwatch.com\/grant\/188094\/award-to-a-usa-school-library-to-recognize-outstanding-humanities-programming.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">award of $5,000 <\/a>to recognize outstanding humanities programming.<\/li><li>Additionally, awards are available to a USA public library to recognize outstanding <a href=\"https:\/\/grantwatch.com\/grant\/196885\/award-to-a-usa-public-library-to-recognize-outstanding-community-impact.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">community impact<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Opportunities are also offered for librarians and library workers to receive <a href=\"https:\/\/grantwatch.com\/grant\/186576\/opportunity-for-usa-librarians-and-library-workers-to-receive-health-information-training.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">professional development training<\/a> to improve public access to health information.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>GrantNews Notes<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><em>GrantWatch is the leading grant listing directory, with close to 8,000 active grants currently available.
