Nurses play a crucial role in the medical field, but many people often overlook their importance when compared to doctors and surgeons. However, without nurses, it would not be possible for our healthcare system to function. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, nurses were instrumental in providing essential care for so many patients in need. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, there are 4.2 million registered nurses in the U.S., according to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. Nurses frequently work long and grueling hours. Oftentimes, they are the first face a patient sees when they arrive for treatment and the last face they see before they leave. Nurses spend more time with patients than most any other healthcare workers. After all, they are directly responsible for monitoring changes in a patient’s vitals and are crucial for patient advocacy and patient care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GrantWatch.com <\/a>has a whole category for Health and Medical<\/a> grants that includes many grants for individual nurses<\/a>, nursing facilities, nursing students or researchers looking to improve the field of nursing and aid in making nursing care more efficient and available. In recognition of National Nurses Month, which takes place throughout May, we’re sharing 10 amazing grants relating to nursing! Hopefully, these grants are just as inspiring as the courageous work nurses everywhere are doing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10 Grants to Benefit the Field of Nursing<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
  1. A grant of up to $5,000 is available to an individual for research to advance the field of nursing<\/a>.<\/li>
  2. Multiple grants of up to $35,000 are available to nurses and doctoral students <\/a>for research projects.<\/li>
  3. Funding is also available to nursing facilities, schools and pharmacies to implement a digital immunization database registry<\/a> for the state.<\/li>
  4. In addition, grants are open to nonprofits, institutions and agencies to ensure healthcare professionals are well prepared to meet current healthcare needs<\/a>. <\/li>
  5. Grants and in-kind support are also open to nursing and medical educators<\/a> to support career development and innovative educational approaches.<\/li>
  6. Additionally, there are grants available to nurses for short-term financial assistance<\/a> as a result of disability, injury, illness or other challenging circumstances.<\/li>
  7. Grants of up to $30,000 are open to Rhode Island nonprofit and for-profit nursing facilities for training and workforce development<\/a>.<\/li>
  8. There is also a grant available to a registered nurse<\/a> for a research project related to nursing education and clinical care.<\/li>
  9. Funding is available to nursing home associations<\/a>, nursing facilities, consumer advocacy organizations, state agencies, resident or family councils, academic institutions and vendors for projects to enhance the quality of care for nursing home residents. <\/li>
  10. Lastly, grants are open to eligible nonprofits<\/a> for direct healthcare services, research, and medical and nursing education.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Ways to Celebrate National Nurses Month<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

    There are many ways to celebrate National Nurses Month! Sharing any of the grants above would be one way of helping to begin this celebration. Here are some other ways to participate in observing National Nurses Month:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Throw a party<\/strong>. If you work at a hospital, consider throwing a party for all the nursing staff to show your appreciation.<\/li>
    2. Say Thank You<\/strong>. <\/strong>Another incredibly easy idea is to share a simple ‘thank you’ with the nurses in your life. Whether you send them a message, tell them in person or send them a card in the mail, you can take steps to show them you care. <\/li>
    3. Show Appreciation<\/strong>. Maybe consider sending flowers to your favorite nurse, or provide them with a gift card to their favorite coffee shop. With the long hours they work, they’ll probably need all the coffee they can get!<\/li>
    4. Learn the history<\/strong>. <\/strong>Take the time to read and study more about Florence Nightingale, the woman who inspired the celebration. Take a trip to your local library and consider bringing your kids with you to learn more about the historic contributions she made to the field of nursing care. <\/li>
    5. Volunteer: <\/strong>Another way to celebrate this week would be to sign up to volunteer at your local nursing home or hospital. This will give you an inside look at the day of a nurse. It will also allow you to be participate in furthering this legacy. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
