Oklahoma Humanities<\/a>, a private 501(c)(3) organization has decided to expand it’s grant offerings in this new year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oklahoma Humanities’ mission statement is: The mission of Oklahoma Humanities is to strengthen communities by helping Oklahomans learn about the human experience, understand new perspectives, and participate knowledgeably in civic life.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here\u2019s what this means for nonprofits<\/a> looking to participate: \u201cOH accepted applications from nonprofits wishing to apply for a Major Grant award of up to $10,000 or a Challenge Grant award of up to $20,000. Major and Challenge Grant applications are reviewed by the OH Board of Trustees in late April, and applicants are notified of funding decisions by May 1.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to that OH is also encouraging Oklahoma based nonprofits who are interested in applying for smaller grants to learn more about a category called the Opportunity Grant category. In this category, OH Opportunity Grants can find projects up to $1500, with applications due 40 days in advance of the deadline. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are the eligibility requirements for any Oklahoma nonprofits looking to fund a project through OH\u2019s program: All eligible projects must support Oklahoma\u2019s Humanities mission which is \u201cto strengthen communities by helping Oklahomans learn about the human experience, understand new perspectives and participate knowledgeably in civic life\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a press release, Caroline Lowery, executive director for Oklahoma Humanities<\/a> had this to say about OH expanding it\u2019s grant offerings: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOklahoma Humanities funds projects that bridge academic disciplines such as history, literature, and philosophy to the general public,\u201d Grant applicants from communities all over the state can receive funding for projects with diverse, thought-provoking ideas about the human story. OH is proud to award around $200,000 in funding per year, catalyzing capacity building and providing cultural opportunities statewide.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
