This Fourth of July, GrantWatch<\/a> wants to celebrate the special occasion by taking some time to talk about the importance of individual freedoms. This idea of independence is the basis around which the holiday was founded. The day began as a way to celebrate the freedom of the 13 American colonies from the rule of the British Empire. Specifically, it marks the date of the ratification of the Declaration of Independence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Declaration of Independence not only proclaims our freedom from Britain, but it also promises citizens <\/strong>“Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.” Independence is important because it allows citizens certain rights that guarantee they’ll be able to have a real choice in their future. An independent nation is able to rule and form its own laws without other countries intervening.\u00a0This freedom keeps our country strong and allows us to grow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The people who fought for our freedom were brave enough to stand up for what they believed in. This is something we should not take for granted. Nonprofits also work hard to fight. Their fight is both for their rights and beliefs and on behalf of those without the same opportunities to give them a better chance to succeed in the “pursuit of Happiness” in their lives. However, in order for these nonprofits to continue their work, they need financial independence as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grants Can Help Nonprofits Achieve Financial Independence<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Just like national independence is crucial for a country to thrive, financial independence is pivotal for nonprofits to succeed.   1. There are grants of up to $5,000<\/a> available to organizations for educational projects that unite people and promote social justice.\u00a0<\/li>
  2. Grants are also open to nonprofits to address urgent social justice needs<\/a>.<\/li>
  3. Funding is available to nonprofits for projects to address environmental concerns<\/a> and advance sustainability.\u00a0<\/li>
  4. Grants of up to $2,500<\/a> are available to nonprofits assisting individuals living in poverty.\u00a0<\/li>
  5. In addition, funding of up to $1,000<\/a> is available to implement youth athletic programs to encourage kids to run regularly.<\/li>
  6. There are grants of up to $5,000<\/a> open to nonprofits for programs that benefit animals and their caregivers.\u00a0<\/li>
  7. Grants are also available to nonprofits to increase equity<\/a> in the arts.<\/li>
  8. Funding of up to $20,000<\/a> is available to nonprofits for community benefit programs and projects.<\/li>
  9. Additionally, there are grants of up to $10,000<\/a> to nonprofits to assist immigrants and specifically address immigrant-related issues.\u00a0<\/li>
  10. Grants of up to $25,000<\/a> are open to nonprofits to positively impact local communities.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
