The month also centers on making sure policies and programs are in place to give all <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/cat\/53\/bipoc-grants.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>minorities<\/strong><\/a> equal opportunities in the<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grants-for-small-business\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">business<\/a> <\/strong>world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There have been tremendous strides in the growth of Black business ownership recently. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/short-reads\/2023\/02\/21\/a-look-at-black-owned-businesses-in-the-u-s\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Pew Research Center<\/strong><\/a>, there were an estimated 140,918 companies in the U.S. with a majority of Black or African American ownership in 2020. This shows a 14 percent increase from the numbers in 2017.  While this growth is definitely a step in the right direction, Black businesses still only account for a very small percentage (around 3%) of the total number of businesses in America. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ensuring funding exists for startups and minority-owned businesses is a great way to elevate this number in the next few years. Grants are one type of funding source available for Black business owners and entrepreneurs. Businesses can use a grant search database, such as GrantWatch, to help narrow down their search. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sites like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>GrantWatch.com<\/strong><\/a>, are convenient because they list thousands of available grants all in one place, saving their members time and frustration. GrantWatch has a category specifically for Black, Indigenous, and people of color or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/cat\/53\/bipoc-grants.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>BIPOC grants<\/strong><\/a>.  With GrantWatch, you can also find a&nbsp;list of&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/foundations\/53\/bipoc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">200 foundations<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;that have given donations or grants to the BIPOC community in the past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In honor of Black Business Month, GrantWatch has listed some of the top grants from this category to further enrich and strengthen the Black business community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Grants to Promote Economic Opportunities for the Black Community<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Grants of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grant\/196317\/grants-and-in-kind-support-to-usa-black-female-business-owners-to-foster-business-growth.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>up to $20,000<\/strong><\/a> and in-kind support are available to Black female business owners to foster business growth. In addition to the cash grant, select grantees will be provided with digital tools and mentorship. As a result, this should help them advance their online presence and bolster their business.<\/li><li>There are also grants available to BIPOC artists to participate in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grant\/205054\/opportunity-for-usa-canada-and-international-bipoc-artists-to-participate-in-a-residency-program-in-glassmaking.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>glassmaking residency program<\/strong><\/a> in New York. Residents will receive funds for the purchase of supplies, accommodations, and access to shared studio space.<\/li><li>Opportunities exist for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grant\/201002\/opportunity-for-usa-canada-and-international-black-medtech-startup-founders-to-participate-in-an-accelerator-program.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>medtech startups<\/strong><\/a> led by Black founders to participate in an accelerator program.<\/li><li>In addition, grants are available for women-led and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grant\/205509\/opportunity-for-usa-and-canada-women-led-and-black-led-startups-to-participate-in-an-accelerator-program.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Black-led startups<\/strong><\/a> to participate in an accelerator program. Participants will receive mentorship and vendor perks and attend a reception at which they can present their companies. <\/li><li>Grants of up to $10,000 and in-kind support are open to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/grantwatch.com\/grant\/191315\/grants-to-usa-black-women-to-increase-diversity-in-entrepreneurship.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Black women entrepreneurs <\/a><\/strong>to support equal opportunities in business.<\/li><li>There are also grants available to nonprofit organizations to <a href=\"https:\/\/grantwatch.com\/grant\/198004\/grants-to-usa-and-canada-nonprofits-to-promote-opportunities-for-black-youth-and-young-adults.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>promote economic opportunities<\/strong><\/a> for Black youth and young adults.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Additionally, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/grantwatch.com\/grant\/206668\/grants-and-in-kind-support-to-usa-entrepreneurs-of-color-for-business-expansion.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">grants of $5,000<\/a><\/strong> and in-kind support are open to small businesses owned by people of color for business expansion.<\/li><li>An opportunity is available for women entrepreneurs and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/grantwatch.com\/grant\/202617\/opportunity-for-usa-and-canada-women-entrepreneurs-and-entrepreneurs-of-color-to-participate-in-a-business-accelerator-program.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">entrepreneurs of color <\/a><\/strong>to participate in a business accelerator program.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Hopefully, you&#8217;ll be able to take advantage of these funding opportunities in a positive way and celebrate National Black Business Month at the same time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About GrantWatch<\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p><em>With close to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/grant-search.php?search=advanced\">8,000 grants<\/a>&nbsp;currently available,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.grantwatch.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GrantWatch.com<\/a>&nbsp;is the leading grant listing directory.
