Lately, it doesn’t seem possible to escape the intensity of natural disasters, with some hitting harder than others. It seems as though Mother Nature has taken aim at making us acutely aware of just how little control we often have about what goes on around us. There may even be those who might think it would be easier not to leave home at all. Fortunately, GrantWatch<\/strong><\/a> has provided a list of grants available to help us address the need for disaster relief. Whether your awareness of the unpredictable nature of natural disasters is local, national, or international, everyone has seen the impact that these events can have on communities. Just this July, a state of emergency was declared in Vermont following severe flooding. There was one stretch where more than 9 inches of rain fell in just a matter of hours! The storms dumped up to two months of rain in two days. Many areas in the U.S. have also been dealing with poor air quality due to the hundreds of out-of-control Canadian wildfires. Clearly, the need for disaster relief is on the minds of many.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grants to Fund Disaster Relief<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
  1. Grants are available to nonprofits to maintain internet connectivity<\/strong><\/a> during and following natural disasters. Funding is to help communities enhance preparedness and build Internet resiliency when faced with adverse events such as national disasters.<\/li>
  2. There are also grants available to nonprofits for projects and programs focusing on areas including disaster preparedness<\/strong><\/a> and relief.<\/li>
  3. In addition, there are grants of up to $10,000<\/strong><\/a> to eligible restaurants for disaster relief. Funding may be used for operating expenses including utilities, rent, supplies and materials, food and beverage inventory, supplier costs, and tribal or federally-declared natural disaster folk art and tradition activities.<\/li>
  4. Grants are available to eligible nonprofits for initiatives to benefit disadvantaged individuals<\/strong><\/a> and provide emergency disaster relief. Funding is for a broad range of activities that help individuals become self-sufficient.<\/li>
  5. Additionally, there are grants of up to $10,000<\/strong><\/a> to nonprofits, public schools, and libraries to support COVID-19-related issues and other charitable causes. The focus of funding includes disaster relief.<\/li>
  6. Grants are available to food service employees and their families for short-term financial relief<\/strong><\/a> during a crisis. Funding provides assistance to families with children that have recently faced the death, injury, or health crisis of a parent or child, fire, domestic violence, or natural disaster.<\/li>
  7. There are grants of up to $10,000<\/strong><\/a> available to eligible nonprofits to enhance the local quality of life. Funding supports relief projects.<\/li>
  8. Finally, there are grants to eligible nonprofits for emergency or disaster relief<\/strong><\/a>. The priority is for projects that create a lasting community impact.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
