National Women’s Small Business Month gives us the perfect opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of women who are also small business owners. In many cases, these outstanding individuals have overcome numerous hardships and challenges. GrantWatch<\/a><\/strong> welcomes this chance to help honor National Women’s Small Business Month<\/a><\/strong> by highlighting two of its categories, with listings of grants for both Women and Small Businesses. In fact, you’ll find that there are hundreds of grant opportunities available!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Benefits of Women-Owned Businesses<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

According to Forbes<\/a><\/strong>, nearly 13 million women own small businesses in the US. What\u2019s more, the growth is proving to be exponential. Women-owned companies employ about 10 million people and generate almost $1.8 trillion in revenue. Moreover, these businesses saw a 27% growth increase in 2022. While revenue is the reason you\u2019re in business, the benefits of owning your business as a woman also go beyond money. Power over your own future is a big draw. Many women go into business to escape the current corporate landscape and the glass ceiling that limits how high they can rise. Imagine, the ability to make decisions, control your future, carve out your own business niche, earn a solid living, and have a lasting effect on the economy. Sounds wonderful, doesn’t it? Women are creating new possibilities every day; it makes sense to keep the momentum going.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GrantWatch has a list below of a select number of grants that are currently available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grants and Fellowships for Women-Owned Small Businesses<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
  1. Grants of $500<\/strong><\/a> to BIPOC women with a current or previous breast cancer diagnosis for medical\/financial support. Funds are for investment in the applicant’s own small business. Funds also for essential self-care, alternative care, living expenses, and medical treatment.<\/li>
  2. There are also Fellowships of $5,000<\/strong><\/a> to women entrepreneurs to help them lead and expand their early-stage businesses. In addition to funding, fellows will participate in workshops and receive business guidance, as well as in-person and online networking.<\/li>
  3. In addition, grants to nonprofits to advance diversity in the entrepreneurship\/investment fields<\/strong><\/a>. Funding supports programs that benefit women, minorities, and under-represented communities. The goal is to facilitate progress in diversifying entrepreneurship and empowering a more diverse group of investors.<\/li>
  4. Fellowships of up to $50,000<\/strong><\/a> to Canadian and International women to pursue graduate studies at American universities. Graduate degrees are to be in any area of study. The purpose is to provide a learning opportunity for women who will then return to their home countries to pursue professional career opportunities there.<\/li>
  5. Also grants of up to $20,000<\/strong><\/a> to U.S. women to pursue advanced degrees and courses of study. Funding is to benefit women who seek to rejoin the workforce, pursue professional advancement, or change their field of employment. Eligible fields of study include social sciences, education, health, medical sciences, and science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Priority is to women of color and women pursuing their first advanced degree or credentials in nontraditional fields.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Additional Grants for Women-Owned Small Businesses, as well as Internships and Other Funding Opportunities<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
    1. An Opportunity for women-led and\/or black-led startups to participate in an accelerator program<\/strong><\/a> in the United States. In addition to funding, participants will receive mentorship and vendor perks and will attend a reception at which they will present their companies. Program participation will be hybrid, with the program delivered virtually throughout, along with 2-3 in-person engagements in Birmingham, AL.<\/li>
    2. There are Internships for women to learn nonprofit management skills<\/strong><\/a> pertaining to arts organizations. Interns will acquire experience by working with operations staff at an established arts nonprofit in New York. Duties and projects will include marketing initiatives, public relations, writing assignments, fundraising, event planning, and arts administration. In addition to a monthly cash stipend, participants will be given accommodations on campus at the funding source’s location in Rosendale, New York.<\/li>
    3. Grants of up to $20,000<\/strong><\/a> to New York City women composers, producers, musicians, bands, orchestras, and ensembles to produce music projects. Funding is for video and recording projects created, written, or produced by individuals who identify as women and\/or feature women in leading musical roles.<\/li>
    4. Also, an opportunity for women entrepreneurs to participate in a business accelerator program<\/a><\/strong>. Participants will receive a cash investment and will participate in a twelve-week individualized mentorship program. It includes pitching and networking opportunities with industry investors and experts, as well as perks and deals from well-known vendors. Program participation will be hybrid, delivered virtually along with 2-3 in-person engagements in Birmingham, Alabama.<\/li>
    5. Finally, grants of up to $50,000<\/strong><\/a> to New York City female producers and filmmakers for films and other digital projects. Funding is for documentary and fiction features that address the underrepresentation of women in the entertainment industry. Eligible projects can be live-action or animated.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
