Yesterday, November 13th<\/sup> marked World Kindness Day. This day was created to inspire spreading goodwill. The team at GrantWatch<\/strong><\/a> feels we should pay it forward all year long and we want to ensure we make a significant difference in the lives of people all over the country. To that end, GrantWatch is excited to share a special list of Disaster Relief<\/strong><\/a> grants to honor World Kindness Day 2023. Our team feels there is a profound connection between world kindness and the relief and prevention of great crisis. There is a transformative power in combining compassion, empathy, and collective action. What\u2019s more, acts of kindness, both on an individual and global scale, play a pivotal role in mitigating the impact of disasters and fostering resilience in communities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

World Kindness Movement Inspired Observance<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

World Kindness Day was started by the World Kindness Movement, a global organization formed in 1997. Their aim is to promote kindness and goodwill around the world. The idea for a specific day dedicated to kindness has gained momentum in the decades since. As a result, World Kindness Day has grown into an international observance, encouraging individuals, communities, and nations to engage in acts of kindness and promote a more compassionate and connected world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The mission of the World Kindness Movement (WKM) is to inspire individuals and connect nations to create a kinder world. The WKM encourages and supports individuals, communities, cities and nations to establish independent kindness organizations to join the World Kindness Movement to see a kinder world realised (sic) in our lifetime.<\/em><\/strong>” (World Kindness Movement)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

In conclusion, world kindness is a powerful force that transcends boundaries. It prompts both immediate relief and sustained prevention efforts for people in need. Indeed, it is a beacon of hope that reminds us of our shared humanity, calling us to work together to create a world where disasters are met with compassion, resilience, and a united global response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GrantWatch is providing the extensive list of grants and awards below to help honor World Kindness Day 2023 with a variety of disaster relief funding options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grants to Honor World Kindness Day 2023<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
  1. Grants to bar workers to address urgent needs<\/strong><\/a>. Funding supports individuals who have experienced hardships or catastrophic events impacting their life, health, or property. Moreover, funds are immediate needs, including food, housing, medical, and family emergencies.<\/li>
  2. There are also grants of $10,000<\/strong><\/a> to eligible restaurants for disaster relief to recover from damages caused by natural disasters. Funding is for operating expenses including utilities, rent, supplies and materials, food and beverage inventory, and supplier costs. Program is for restaurants facing hardships due to a state, tribal, or federally-declared natural disaster.<\/li>
  3. In addition, there are grants to food service employees and their families for financial relief<\/strong><\/a> during a crisis. Funding is also to provide assistance to families with children that have recently faced the death, injury, or health crisis of a parent or child, fire, domestic violence, or natural disaster.<\/li>
  4. Grants to eligible government agencies to reduce the risk of wildfires<\/strong><\/a>. Funding supports activities to reduce hazardous fuels, restore fire-adapted ecosystems, enhance education, and improve prevention. Program purpose is also for planning projects to address issues such as community preparedness.<\/li>
  5. Also, grants of up to $30,000<\/strong><\/a> to local governments and First Nations for new projects to increase the capacity of local emergency response services. Funding is for the purchase of equipment, training and retention, and volunteer recruitment. Funding focus is the modernization of local programs to digital registration and reporting through the Evacuee Registration & Assistance (ERA) Tool. Additionally, the intake will focus on knowledge sharing, enhancing mutual aid, and for applicants to act as host communities.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Awards and Additional Grants to Honor World Kindness Day 2023<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
    1. Awards of up to $10,000<\/strong><\/a> to search and rescue teams to recognize the exceptional services they provide. These teams participated in an especially heroic or notable rescue operation during the past year. Rescue operations will illustrate each team\u2019s skill level, passion and dedication.<\/li>
    2. Grants of up to $30,000<\/strong><\/a> to local governments and First Nations to maintain and enhance the coordination of emergency response services. Funding is for communications systems, equipment, supplies, and training. Program goal is to support the operation of emergency operations centers (EOC) and to improve EOC capacity through training and exercises.<\/li>
    3. There are also grants to states, territories, and tribal governments to prepare for and minimize the negative impacts of flooding<\/strong><\/a>. Funding supports community hazard mitigation projects and advance assistance for project design and development.<\/li>
    4. Grants and scholarships to Coast Guard<\/a><\/strong> members and their families for assistance following a catastrophe within the family.<\/li>
    5. Lastly, grants to states, territories, and Native American tribal governments for preemptive actions to mitigate the effects<\/strong><\/a> of natural hazards and disasters. Funding is for mitigation projects and capability and capacity-building activities.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
